Honeycomb Fingerless Mitts Knitting Pattern

This PDF knitting pattern guides you through making a pair of textured fingerless mitts with a classic Honeycomb stitch. The mitts are worked in the round using Magic Loop, with the thumb gusset shaped by simple M1 increases worked only along the inner side of the palm.

The pattern teaches you to create the Honeycomb texture entirely without a cable needle. It includes a chart for the thumb increase and decrease sequence, plus video tutorials for the trickier techniques.

Fingerless mitts are made for everyday wear: warm enough for October and a mild January, while keeping your fingers free for a phone, keys, or a coffee cup.

✨ The Honeycomb stitch is a versatile texture to know and use in your knitting. Once you understand the repeat, you can use it beyond mitts to create warm, structured pieces like sweaters, cardigans, hats, scarves, and cowls, or simply add it as a textured panel to a larger project.

What’s included:

  • Written step-by-step instructions for sizes S, M, and L
  • Separate instructions for left and right mitts
  • Honeycomb stitch chart with the complete thumb increase and decrease sequence
  • Video tutorials for the Honeycomb crosses, SSK improved, and thumb pick-up
  • Materials list and gauge information

Pattern specs:

  • Sizes: Adult S (M) (L)
  • Yarn: Fingering weight, approximately 350–450 m (383–492 yards) / 100 g. Both smooth and fluffy yarns work well. If using fluffy yarn, choose a thinner yarn with a higher meterage per 100 g than you would for smooth yarn, as the fibers take up some of the space within the stitches, whereas smooth yarn does not.
  • Needles: 80 cm circular needles in 3 mm (US 2.5) and 3.5 mm (US 4)
  • Gauge: 28 sts × 36 rnds = 10 cm (4 inches) in the Honeycomb pattern on 3.5 mm needles
  • Techniques: Magic Loop, knitting in the round, increases, decreases, and cabling without a cable needle
